In 1983, at the request of Lita Warner Heller, Christine Aubale Gerschel organized, founded, and became President of Les Dames d'Aspen with the help of Joan Bracken Bain. This year marks Les Dames d'Aspen's 40th Anniversary. Over the years, this prestigious organization has contributed approximately $4.6 million to local arts organizations, scholarships, and children's programs in Aspen and the Roaring Fork Valley: Jazz Aspen Snowmass, Dance Aspen, Aspen Historical Society, Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, Aspen Words, Aspen Film, Theatre Aspen, Aspen Music Festival and School, 2 Scholarships in the Arts for students at the Aspen and Basalt High Schools, Robert J. Harth Conductor Prize, The Art Base and Red Brick Center for the Arts.
We do events every week in the season. Many events attending our beneficiaries programs with dinners at homes, private clubs, restaurants, potlucks, dinners with concerts, lectures, movies, luncheons with skiing day at private clubs and on various mountains, bowling, picnics, night clubs, movie nights at private homes, wine tasting, gallery lectures and more.
